Who We Are

Charlie Ortiz– Founder & Senior Advocate
There’s nothing more than Charlie loves besides spending time with his family – his wife and two teenage sons and his beloved rescue Macaw, unless it’s helping people with real estate problems that have become burdens to them. At heart, that is his true passion.

Charlie has been a mentor at the Inland Empire Investment Club and has extensive knowledge of homes from working with contractors, builders, and developers. Since 2012, Charlie has been working hard building genuine connections with families and relationships with communities in the Inland Empire area because this is where he lives and he loves his home. In his free time, he loves to read books, go for walks with his wife and their dogs, visit the beach with his sons, and play tennis with his brothers-in-law.

Tommy Smith – Acquisitions / Finance Manager
Tommy Smith is the Acquisition/Finance Manager at Homeowners Resource Group. He previously served in the U.S. Navy. In 2010 he earned a bachelor’s degree in business finance, graduating from San Diego State University Fowler College of Business. His discipline, structure, and enjoyment of calculating formulas is a win-win formula when assisting homeowners to solve complex and difficult issues. He has close to 20 years of experience in project and information systems management.

Tommy has a passion for real estate and constantly challenges himself to learn and improve his real estate acumen to be a tremendous asset to homeowners that need a knowledgeable resource. In his spare time, Tommy enjoys showing and training dogs when he’s not with the fury family members you can catch him on the sidelines cheering on his kids at either a basketball, football, or gymnastic event. He enjoys spending time with his wife of 14 years and kids often enjoy the great outdoors either running, hiking, or exercising.

Nick Castrellon – Marketing Manager
Nick comes from a design and marketing background with over 20 years of experience. He has done graphic design, writing and signage manufacturing for the financial, retail, and restates industries. He’s been a member of the team since 2018 and proudly uses his skillset to spread the word of HRG’s services to the folks that need them.

Nick’s “why” is helping as many people not go through what his family did when they faced foreclosure back in 2012. After seeing the HRG team help others move on from tough situations, he became very passionate about being a resource to those that feel they have nowhere to turn. During Nick’s downtime, he enjoys cooking, crossfit, playing his guitar, and being a dad to his family of dogs and cats.

Drew Nagda – Funding Manager / Builder
Drew is the funding manager / main investor that purchases the distressed properties. He works hand-in-hand with the HRG team, helping solve seller problems, and assisting the team to close out deals. Drew has a construction company, so once a deal is closed he and his team fix up the properties for either rent or to sell.

The relationship he has with HRG is complementary as he fixes up distressed properties and cleans up neighborhoods in our target areas. This helps when speaking with sellers because Drew takes pride in building beautiful houses and sellers/city officials/community members appreciate the craftsmanship and end result. In his spare time he enjoys exercising, spending time with family & dog, and supporting local youth soccer teams.
